I was wondering, since the PlasmaChain seed words are stored in the browser, does that present a risk that eliminates the protections of using a hardware wallet? Or is it the case that once a PlasmaChain account has been mapped to an ETH mainnet account, LOOM on the PlasmaChain can only ever be transferred back to the ETH mainnet account and cannot be transferred to any other account (on either PlasmaChain or ETH mainnet). If that is the case, I imagine stolen seed words would only be able to unstake/restake your LOOM but not steal them. Thanks!

I was wondering, since the PlasmaChain seed words are stored in the browser, does that present a risk that eliminates the protections of using a hardware wallet? Or is it the case that once a PlasmaChain account has been mapped to an ETH mainnet account, LOOM on the PlasmaChain can only ever be transferred back to the ETH mainnet account and cannot be transferred to any other account (on either PlasmaChain or ETH mainnet). If that is the case, I imagine stolen seed words would only be able to unstake/restake your LOOM but not steal them. Thanks!

If you lost your plasmachain key, you can recover via your ethereum address. That said you should not lose it. The dashboard is like MEW, it doesn’t store your seeds

If you email support@loomx.io, it gets in our support queue and our developer team processes any issues once per day. It helps us fix bugs when there are bugs, or let you know what steps you can take to fix the issue on your own. So far everyone who's contacted support has had their issue resolved within a timely manner and no one's funds have been lost (they're still stored safely on the gateway contract on Ethereum mainnet), so there's no need to panic — most of these are just UI issues that we're knocking out one by one and improving the interface over time so there will be less confusion in the future 🙃

@Theonlyluke Hi. I have a problem with seed phrase. I don’t know if I wrote down wrong or something else went wrong but I can’t seem to log back in. I was able to stake a lot of token with Stakewithus for 6 months and wanted to know what happens after lock up? Do tokens go back to dashboard and get stuck until withdrawal or do they go back the metaMask Ethereum address that they were staked from? Thank you

No, the max cap on guaranteed block rewards from the company pool drops every year. We're nowhere close to that cap currently. And block rewards from transaction fees will go up over time as the network sees more adoption.

+1, it's important for the community to understand that it's not just "lock up your tokens and EARN FREE MONEY", when they say delegating tokens helps secure the network, what they mean is that by locking tokens to support a delegator you are *doing work* to *minimize risk* and *enhance the network*, and if you do it poorly (voting for nodes that don't keep the network secure and stable), you can lose your tokens

Finally manage to stake my loom after few tries

i’ll improve the UI for this. Basically we switched to 10 minute election cycles until we finish onboarding validators. Because of this, there’s a small period of time each cycle where you can’t delegate.

Yeah not too familiar with ledger/loom interaction. But I do know Ledger uses BIP39 - if you do a Google search you can find tools that let you enter a seed and it'll pop a list of public addresses with associated keys, those are technically all of your accounts

Click on ledger legacy, it should let you switch to ledger live. We will improve this ux. Weird though because it should have defaulted to ledger live

Plasma is the one which ensures the security/trust for a user who places there token on sidechain, If the sidechain misbeheaves it offers security to the user by being able to transfer tokens from sidechain, If I understand correctly. That's the beauty of it. You don't trust the sidechain completely but the plasma cash implemetation. I dont think a simple transfer gate way can give that kind of security

Check out the links I just posted above, and the links in the pinned message. Loom isn't better or worse than EOS. There's a decent amount of overlap, since both run on DPOS, but it's a totally different system. The underlying code base is an entirely different piece of software. The major differences in overall approach / philosophy are probably that we believe in using Ethereum as a base chain for securing tokens worth significant value, and using PlasmaChain (Loom's mainnet) as a sidechain for running scalable applications, as opposed to doing everything on one chain (store of value + applications). The ability to withdraw your tokens to Ethereum adds significant security and requires less trust in the validators. We also have a strong focus on UX, and we believe end-users need to be able to use applications without having to sign every transaction with wallet software, or even have an account in the first place. On PlasmaChain, DApp developers pay for application hosting fees, end-users don't have to pay per transaction (similar to the web 2.0 web hosting model we're all familiar with). You can try our game Zombie Battleground (https://loom.games/) on the app store and iOS to see what I mean — the entire game runs on the blockchain, but you would have no idea just from playing it because it feels like a normal game. We also don't believe in a "one blockchain to rule them all" approach. We think it's more likely that a lot of different blockchains will exist in parallel and interopt with each other. So our model is to make PlasmaChain the central Layer 2 hub that connects all these other chains together, and also has a bridge to Ethereum as the most secure base layer. That way Ethereum can be like your savings account and PlasmaChain can be like your checking account or pre-paid visa card — you load some funds or tokens on there that you can use for day-to-day interactions with applications because PlasmaChain is super convenient to use, but if the balance of all those assets starts to get really massive and you don't need to use them every day, you can transfer a large chunk of them to Ethereum for safe-keeping. We also have an SDK that allows developers to easily spin up their own chains, so we think the future will look something like an interconnected web of blockchains that each have a specific purpose, with PlasmaChain tying them together.
