In general, you should never loop over any unknown amount of items in a non-view function in Solidity. Too expensive and hard to predict gas costs

Hello, I'm on 6, chapter 8 about paying for Level Up for zombies... the tutorial mentioned — web3js.utils.toWei("1", "ether"); — as a method of conversion but the practical test at the end of the chapter gave out an error, but accepted web3js.utils.toWei(".001"); « without the word ether in quotation marks. This meant even without the word "ether" it will automatically be treated as whole ether value, right?

Yep i've just emailed support again. Basically when i claimed the reward it was incorrect, and Loom has fixed the reward on cryptozombies so now it shows the correct reward but wont let me claim it (as it says my reward has already been claimed)

1. For ZombieChain, they'll be deposited into a smart contract with a min deposit, then depleted each month based on usage. E.g. The developer deposits 10 LOOM, and each month 1 LOOM gets paid to the ZombieChain validators. For hosting your own dappchain it's different, the tokens aren't depleted, the validators just need to hold enough LOOM balance to cover the transaction volume. 2. They can buy the tokens wherever they get the best price - tokens on exchanges are the same as what we sell on our website.

My opinion, Eos is centralized 21 validators. Projects that care about decentralization will not consider EOS. I think it's the other way around. Once LOOM adds sidechains to Ethereum no need to go to EOS

I had asked this about how open Loom is to building on other chains besides ETH and they said they are open and it can be done, although now they focusing on Ethereum coz of huge developer base. So when EOS get huge developer base Loom can just use them also so that devs on Loom choose which sidechain running on which mainchain. The sidechain-inception on Loom is gonna be crazy but that ability of Loom is what will make it continue to be relevant

You don't actually transfer money "to" a Loom DAppChain. You transfer money (ETH / ERC tokens) to a Plasma smart contract address on Ethereum that's being watched by the Loom DAppChain — then the Loom DAppChain credits you with an equivalent amount of money to use on the DAppChain until you withdraw from the Plasma contract. So your funds never leave Ethereum. Once the plasma smart contract is audited, you don't need to trust the DAppChain, you only need to trust Ethereum, that's the point of Plasma Cash.

You seem to have some fundamental misconceptions about how blockchains work. Here's a good starting point: https://medium.com/loom-network/scalability-tradeoffs-why-the-ethereum-killer-hasnt-arrived-yet-8f60a88e46c0 Basically there are fundamental tradeoffs between decentralization and scalability. If you increase scalability at the base layer, you're sacrificing decentralization. But if you do this on layer 2, you can continue to use layer 1 as a secure store of value while using layer 2 for apps that require high scalability, and only expose a small amount of value to layer 2. Think of it like having a million dollars in a savings account, then only transfering $100 to a pre-paid credit card. If you do this all on layer 1, you'd be storing the million dollars on the pre-paid credit card, since you're trying to run scalable apps on the same layer you're using as a store of value. And if you use Plasma on the layer 2, you get the bonus of only trusting the security of the mainchain — so you could transfer that million dollars to a decentralized exchange, but still have the security that you can withdraw it whenever you want to.

Thanks for the reply. I am very familiar with sidechains but I've read that paragraph so many times and I still can not understand what the writer is trying to say. Imagine an MMORPG that had 100,000 users. You can't have all these users updating the game state at the same time, so maybe you have sidechains with dungeons, each dungeon has maybe 10 players in it at a time. This way player state can be written to the sidechain frequently, and this state can be periodically written back to the mainchain. Then of course, you couldn't run this 100,000 user RPG on Ethereum, so it would itself be taking place on a sidechain to Ethereum. Dungeons are sidechains of the main game, which is itself a sidechain to Ethereum.

So I guess this "off chain" part was a mistake that confused me, it should be "on sub-chains" instead?

i think that the source code is still ultimately available because it's on the blockchain, but being able to inherit from it in the same way that you can with your own contracts pre-deployment isn't an option

I'm stilll going through the process of the crypto zombies, and although it is AWESOME what you guys have done with it, and it is helping me a lot to lern solidity from the very basics, it is sometimes a bit... confussing, and the instructions are done in a way that makes us think of the answer, but sometimes those are a bit "troll". Game assets are copyrightable, but game mechanics are not. All CCGs are basically copies of Magic: The Gathering with minor variations anyway 😉 But we have an entire games team in house, and everything in the game has been built from scratch.

I don't know the details, but as you said, a company can sue another company even if there aren't legal grounds for the suit. In this case, the game would have had to copy intellectual property from the other game in order for it to be legally enforceable. If it's made from scratch and the other gameplay isn't patented, there's no IP to protect. Otherwise all 2d platformers would be suing each other :P

Also, just googled it, looks like both companies are Korean. Korean IP law may be different than US law, I'm only familiar with US law.

How do you integrate the TrustSDKs into Zombie Battlegrounds. I assume its written in Unity, do you bind the native libraries or have you done an implementation in C#? Im doing the Xamarin binding for it and an actual implementatiom would be nice as well!

My students and I love Cryptozombies! A suggestion for tweaking... any chapter that involves elements of object oriented programming (as opposed to procedural) likely needs more explanation or hints. My grade 6/7 class uses Scratch & Micro-bit coding where object concepts are mostly hidden. So when we encountered people.push in lesson 1, chapter 8 things got fuzzy fast. :) Having the answers is helpful though. It just would be nice to not have to “cheat.”
