Just doing the Cryptozombies tutorial.. not sure if this is the right place to ask. I'm curious how external view only functions can be free. No doubt this could lead to spam attacks if querying were free on the mainnet. Where is the computation done with for loops for instance? If I had a zombie array that had an index that numbered into the trillions, surely this would be very computationally expensive somewhere? Who pays for this if the gas is free?

For example, you can't execute infinite loop in view functions. There is still gas limit even for constant functions, but you don't need to pay gas.

Also like BAPH line of thought, it is one less line of code you glance at while reading the function. Hmm not sure but I also think it might reduce the contract byte size? I notice for pseduo-RNG things relying on blockchain.timestamp that the gas estimates by metamask are often too low, resulting in failed transactions. The "estimators" also return "infinite". That is great thank you! web3js now is showing 1.0. Another question.. in the tutorial we use web3.eth.accounts[0].. but isn't this using the 0.2 version? Should we instead use web3js.eth.getAccounts() since this is what the tutorial instantiated the new web3 object as? This works and returns an array but I'd like to know how to call the actual address in use since using web3js.eth.getAccounts()[0] returns an error

The first one its the: `Error: [number-to-bn] while converting number undefined to BN.js instance, error: invalid number value.` When just doing a `await web3.eth.getBlock(transactionInfo.blockHash);` . This appears to happen randomly. I think if you declare the struct as storage then just read address from it you do one read. If you declare it as memory you do two reads. But since there is no buffer, if you do a read on the struct address multiple times you get charged multiple times. Also you should prob double check but you might be doing one more save for keys on the mapping side. Save is 20k and like 5k for rewrites (you also might get like half ur gas back when you delete). A read is like 200 or 500 if I remember right. You’re prob better off using structs when you can. You also get the added benefit of combining data in the struct. If you needed to add a byte, it would be free on the struct side if you add it next to address. Address is 20 bytes. Careful about bools. They take up a byte if you declare it normally in a struct. I wrote a library so bools took up one bit instead of a byte but I’m still away from my computer. Dm me if you want a copy and I’ll send it when I get home. Also sorry if what I say doesn’t make sense or is wrong. It’s 4am, I’m sick and away from my laptop. I’d double check everything I say on remix in a test file. You can see the gas consumption in the transaction in etherscan. Use ropsten cuz I think that’s the most updated. So yeah using a struct is prob better for you in a lot of different gas saving ways if you are careful.

Hmm questions seem fair. loom uses plasma and you can move coins from eth main net to a loom 2nd layer and back again. There isn’t a need to issue different coins. Loom has like three different 2nd layer chains optimized for different purposes. You’ll most likely want to use game chain if you are building a game.

There's no swap in in the traditional sense, plasma swaps are a different thing, the erc20 token should remain on eth mainnet but it'll be possible to plasma swap it to their sidechain (and back to mainnet again)

Hello everyone! First of all, great job on building CryptoZombies. I just completed all the courses and they taught me a ton about Solidity. Just wanted to ask a question: Is the Graduation Assignment on CryptoZombies still on plan for this week?

Since using Loom SDK is going to pretty much be like a "vendor lock in" what is the protection for devs to make sure they don't get bamboozled if loom decided to charge more for the standalone Loom SDK license?
